Republican gubernatorial candidate and U.S. Rep. Nathan Deal says he wants the president to prove he is an American citizen.
Deal says he has “no reason to think” that President Barack Obama is not a legal U.S. citizen but enough questions have been raised that he plans to write a letter to the president asking him to produce a birth certificate showing he was born in the United States.
“I have looked at the documentation that is publicly available and it leaves many things to be desired,” Deal said in an interview Friday.
Deal’s statement came a day after he noted in an online chat that he would join other U.S. House members in writing the president and asking that he release a copy of his birth certificate.

(lubavitch.com) In a drastic measure adopted to combat the swine flu virus, Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko ordered a three-week closure of Ukraine's schools.
"From today, all the school establishments in Ukraine -- be they private or public -- will be put on three weeks of holiday," she told her cabinet in comments carried on Ukrainian television last Friday.
Rabbi Shmuel Kaminzki, Chief Rabbi of Dnepropetrovsk, told lubavitch.com that in compliance with these orders, beginning this week, “all of the Ohr Avner Chabad schools in Ukraine have been closed.”
With 35 Ohr Avner schools and some 50 kindergartens in the networks, there are about 1000 children in the Chabad school network.
The measure, which also includes a ban on public gatherings, comes after 30 people have died of unexplained causes in The Ternopil region in Western Ukraine.
In the program, which premiered November 3 on ABC, Wolf’s fictional reporter scored an exclusive interview with "Anna," the lead alien, who is secretly plotting to take over the planet. UPDATE: Obama now speaks on the tragedy. The President at a previously scheduled meeting with Native American groups and changed his speech in mid-course to talk about what happened. He was careful not to overstate the numbers of people harmed and asked that we all keep the men and women of Fort Hood in our thoughts. He then quickly exited the stage.
UPDATE: The gunmen were confirmed as military officers during a press conference reported on CNN's "The Situation Room".
UPDATE: 12 killed according to CNN's Barbara Starr and now 31 injured, all U.S. Military personnel.

This is covered on television and just happened by what apparently and reportedly is an upset set of of soldiers at Fort Hood, Texas, near Waco, Texas. There are reports of up to three gunmen, one already arrested, two others the subject of a search. 7 are dead and 12 are injured.
Fort Hood is on lockdown now; the 55,000 people not allowed to go anywhere.
There was a graduation ceremony going on at the time of the shooting, according to MSNBC and CNN. The shooting happened at the solidier readiness facility on the base.
The gunmen were carrying M-16s according to General Russell Honore U.S. Amry (Ret.) on Rich Sanchez Show on CNN just three minutes ago. Fort Hood is one of the largest U.S. Army installations in the country.

Fort Hood is next to Killeen, northeast of Austin; home to about 5,000 active duty officers and 45,000 enlisted; with approximately 9,000 civilian employees.In August, there was a shooting at Ft. Hood that left Spc. Ryan Richard Schlack, 30, of Oshkosh, Wis. dead and Fort Hood Spc. Armando Ray Baca was taken into custody. There was another shooting in August, and another in October.
This story is developing and much of the information beyond the deaths and injuries, and that the gunmen may be solidiers, is not well-known.
